12-08-2005 -- Clearing the kitchen and moving it upstairs to the spare bedroom

12-10-05 -- Teardown. Project Leader: Ryan. Extra help by Kris and Justin

12-10-2005 thru 12-13-2005 -- Mudding and sanding the drywall

12-14-2005 -- Deciding on a Paint color. Burgundy won by overwhelming vote

12-16-2005 -- Taping and Drywall primer

12-17-2005 -- Primer (tinted!)

12-18-2005 thru 12-19-2005 -- Painting. Two coats.

12-27-2005 -- Cabinets arrive

01-05-2006 -- Wall cabinet and microwave installation.
Two base cabinets were cracked and had to be reordered, so the base cabinets were pushed back a week.

01-11-2006 -- Gas line move and wall/floor repair
The old gas line came out of the middle of the floor, and was not correct for modern stoves. It had to be moved closer to the back wall. We called in a plumber for the move. Justin was nice enough to hang out and keep an eye on the plumber that day.

01-12-2006 -- Base cabinet installation and measurement for counter tops
Al the General Contractor! I had to coordinate the arrival of the replacement base cabinets (Monday), getting the cabinet people to come out and measure for the counter tops (Thur), but that required that the base cabinets actually be in, so the cabinet installer (Matthew) was cool enough to get them in on Thur morning, with the counter top people coming Thur afternoon.

01-20-2006 thru 01-22-2006 -- Replacing cut tile so we could move the island away from fridge.

01-23-2006 -- Counter tops installed (Corian). Almost done now!

01-28-2006 -- Faucet, dishwasher, and water line to fridge installed by Dad.
First use of sink and dishwasher in 6 weeks!

01-29-2006 -- Bolting down the island.

01-29-2006 -- Installing under-cabinet lighting.

Finished Kitchen!
